The Medical Team — ADOS Exams and More

Under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Cope, our medical team conducts a comprehensive autism evaluation of children up to age 21. Our staff works one-on-one with the children for 60-90 minutes using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) test. Patients will be referred for external hearing evaluations, EEG, genetic testing, and other diagnostics as necessary. A quality assessment with medical oversight is often the first step in accessing insurance-provided therapy and school services.

Within one week, parents will receive a one-page report with the official diagnosis. The report can be used to access therapy from private insurance and to get appropriate supports from Early Intervention or the school district.

Follow-up visits will be scheduled, if necessary.

At this time, we accept all New Jersey Medicaid insurances. We are currently enrolling with private medical insurance plans and hope to accept these plans by the end of summer 2025. Until then, patients will be charged $500 for an initial assessment and report, and $200 for a follow-up visit. We accept payment by check, debit, or credit card.

Parent Support

An autism diagnosis is the first step in the autism journey for parents. Research shows that high-quality therapy can have a big impact on autism outcomes. To ensure that parents get the best help as quickly as possible, our support staff discusses therapy options and recommended service providers.

Since autism may require lifelong support, our parent support staff is there for the entire process. They can answer questions on everything from ABA to college. Need help understanding autism basics? Need a reference for therapy and after-school programs? Ready to start planning for adulthood? Our trained specialists will guide parents as they seek answers to these questions and more.

In the future, we will host webinars and panels to share information about the latest research, trends, and parenting tips. We will offer concierge support for IEP development, college planning, and social service navigation. Support groups will be organized to provide information and social opportunities for parents. Weekend events for the whole family will provide opportunities to gather, relax, and discuss pressing concerns.

For all parents, the first 30-minute session is free. For follow-up appointments, there is a $250 per hour charge, which will be waived for children covered by Medicaid. We accept payment by check, debit, or credit card.

The Teen Zone

Beginning in September 2025, we will provide a safe, non-judgmental place for teens (ages 13-18) to gather after school and participate in preferred activities with peers. Supervised by trained staff, students can explore computer games, coding programs, art supplies, Lego robotics, and other activities. They can hang out in our lounge area with couches and a television. Information about rates and eligibility requirements will be available soon.
