What We Do
Unwind is a fun, welcoming after-school space where teens with autism can relax, be themselves, and connect with others through recreational activities they enjoy.
Unwind offers a full week of structured activities, including art class, coding, Lego robotics, and yoga. Teens have the flexibility to participate in these activities or just chill out on their own.
In our spacious center, we have amazing tech, comfy sofas, and the best art supplies. You have to see it to believe it.
Our Values
We celebrate the strengths and diversity of autistic individuals, encouraging friendship, creativity, and self-expression.
At Unwind, we believe in being the best you, not the best someone else.
Everything that we do shows our commitment to neurodiversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Who Would Enjoy Unwind?
Unwind is designed for autistic teens who require minimal support and are eager to engage, connect, and grow.
We want to set up all teens for success. The typical participant of Unwind:
- Has a formal autism diagnosis.
- Is able to verbally communicate wants, needs, and choices independently.
- Is able to engage in structured activities (e.g., games, crafts, recreational projects) independently.
- Is able to participate safely in a group setting (no aggression or elopement behaviors).
- Is able to participate in small group activities with minimal support and guidance.
- Is able to independently follow directions and daily routines (e.g., snack time, clean-up, transitions).
- Is comfortable in both structured and unstructured environments.
- Shows interest in social interaction, even if they require support in building and maintaining friendships.
- Benefits from support in practicing coping strategies, flexibility, and self-regulation.
